Archers Sound Clip -with writeup-
The Archers is a long standing BBC radio drama, this where where we got the script from to perform. the script features a lot of things that would would only find in radio scripts, for example because the action doesn't have any visual stimulus to go on, the characters find themselves having to describe their actions and feelings through text and being very specific about what they're doing, for example the conversation between Alistair and Daryl (as we portrayed them anyway) we hear them say everything they're doing and mapping out a clear story by being very specific like "what are you doing today?" and "im setting off in 20 minutes" gives the story a strict timeset and easy to follow narrative, this is important because without any visuals a radio script can sometimes leave you confused if not done well.

Set design
I always wanted to be the overall feel of my film to be quite light hearted and funny at times, the way i shot the film with bright colourful backgrounds solidifies this and makes it easy for me to add other elements like sound to make the film feel how i want.
I decided to use my room for the piece to camera to give the film a more personal feel and to make people feel more involved with my life. it is also very fitting considering the feel and topic of the film.
The reason i chose the parks around cambridge to be my filming locations were for many reasons, one being that there were reliably a lot of people around to give me the best chance of getting interviews. another was the very pretty scenery around that made the backgrounds interesting enough to hold an audience for a long period of time.

Location Recce - cambourne -
here is cambourne, the town that i live in, cambourne is home to a lot of buildings like the one you see under this text, and a few trees to break up the scenery.
here is the location im planning on filming, the trees and buildings give a diverse background to look at, and the buildings may be able to shield me away from any wind that comes in to ruin the audio.
problems with the location?
the location is not very pretty most of the time, however sometimes something more simplistic would look nicer, i will have to decide that on the day depending on who i get to interview while im there.
The wind, wind is always a problem for me, with cambridge being very windy this time of year and that could ruin the audio entirely.
good things about the location?
very convenient to use, because it's the town i live in it means i can get more filming time and less time worrying about public transport. the town is also fairly busy because of the supermarket in the centre of the town so getting an interview should be fairly easy.
location recce -central cambridge-
Location Reece: central cambridge
Central cambridge, the grand arcade is a large shopping centre with long spanding grassland. i plan to film out in the grassland so i can get pretty shots with the trees.
If you look in this photo taken from google maps you can see there the grassland starts, just past the main tree in the centre there is the park i filmed most of my interviews in.
the problems with this location include the wind that often picks up around the cambridge area, and the changing weather in England means that rain is always around the corner at any moment, so we have to be ready for that. filming under a tree line could give me lighting problems, it could be too dark without direct sunlight.
This location is great for my filming because there are many people around, this is good for me because it maxes my chances my chances of being able to find an interview with someone that will give me an interesting answer. the location is also very pretty with a large variety of colours and pretty trees and plants to make an interesting background for an interview. the location also offers a good opportunity for cut-aways with cambridge being home to many beauty spots like the universities and very old beautiful buildings.

Evidence of post production audio / video
some proof of colour correction, this is using the fast colour correcter effect within premiere and using the colour wheels and sliders, i made it to give the scene a much brighter feel to reprisent the happiness and slight comedy of this scene.
My films timeline, here you can see the massive amount of layers that had gone into the finished film. these layers all add up to make a complex and good looking film.
My Organised Folders In The Project File, these were used to make sure i didnt get lost in all of the footage that i recorded during the shoot to make my edit a lot quicker.
Some Of The Titles Used During The Film that i used to give the film a unique feel and match the vibe of the film that i was going for. the titles were mostly used for comical used and also helped explain the story.
evidence of audio levels and editing. i used these effects to reduce the background noise of the interviews that were previously too loud to hear the audio i wanted. i first used the effect to get the profile of the background noise and they analysed the sound file to remove sound that shares that profile.
Proof of other exterior sound being added. this is proof of the microphones that i used were used in the final edit, the sound was synched up to the video by using the sound off the camera and then swapped out to the new edited sound from the microphone.

target audience
My film is aimed at people with a heart for comedy, because of the slight comical themes in my film i feel the film will attract younger people, aged 15-25 and anyone else with a sense of humor. i do not feel like there is a specific gender that will enjoy my film more, i feel like it is quite accessible to most people.
I hope the film reaches many people either in film festivals or on YouTube, i feel the demographic on YouTube is well suited for the type of themes in my film.

Peer Review Of Rough Cut
the general opinion of my film in its current state did not have enough story for it to be engaging throughout. also the sound was a real problem and the subtitles were sometimes distracting, the music was too loud at times and that made it distracting and the film lacked cuttaways. People also said the film lacked a real narrative and this made the film less engaging to the viewer.

The Structure, or 'Chapters' Of My Documentary
An introduction: a small speech given by myself about the human mind, and how quickly we make impressions followed by an explanation of what i'll be doing.
the main bulk of the Documentary will be interviews with strangers in the streets of cambridge, asking them to answer some simple (and some not-so simple) questions about me, from what my name is, to my life story.
Talking to my dad about the art of people watching, why we do it (because we all do, we know it) how easy it is to judge someone you've just met and how in depth you think you could get about someones life.
the end will be me and the crew saying goodbye to all the people we have interviewed and a cut to me talking about some deep quote about how we judge people.
and that should make a full film! with plenty of cuts to other interviewees there shouldn't be too much need for generic random cutaways, and film it more like a personal conversation.

19th september work
The difference between narrative and story.
the story is the overall event that is happening, for example a lady gets stabbed in the parking lot, the narrative is the way it's told, like a perspective, like the lady's narrative is that 'I was stabbed', the person that stabbed her's narrative is 'I stabbed someone' if there was someone to watch that event, their narrative would be 'I saw someone get stabbed' but the story is the same.
The Three Act Narrative structure and hollywood structure.
The bace 3 act narrative structure in all films is the simple start, middle and an ending, the start should develop a character and the problem they have to face, middle should have the climax of the film and the ending should have a final resolution.
the hollywood narrative structure is different, they have:
Exposition
What the point of the story is, why it's happening.
Development
Telling us who the characters and developing them.
Complication
what the hero/heroine has to overcome
Climax
the final battle! DUNDUNDUNDUNDUN
Resolution
everything ends with a new equilibrium.
linear and non-linear narrative structure
A linear narrative takes place in chronological order, like Tangled, everything happens in a set order, she escapes, meets the prince, has a falling out with him, then they destroy evil together and fall in love, that's the order it happens and it's the way it's told.
Now lets look at pulp fiction, one of my personal favourite films of all time, the narrative here is all over the place, it's starts with events that happen at the end, that in the timeline are actually in the middle and it's all a big mess. this is a non-linear narrative and it used to keep a story interesting by keeping the viewer guessing as to what's happening.
pulp fiction's narrative.
oh boy, pulp fiction is all over the place. here's the order that the narrative should be in...

Impressions, The Pitch / Tasks To Be Done.
Impressions, The Pitch.
film title: Impressions.
I ask people i've never met to describe me.
People are quite judgemental in this day and age, and people are often quick to make an impression as to what kind of a person someone is. im out to see how correct they are, and satisfy my own vanity slightly.
The tasks i'll need to do:
- Do some tests with the questions to make sure i can get an interesting enough answer out of someone if i were to ask them to someone.
- Find a crew willing to shoot this with me.
- Get my own life story in order and find out what to tell to make it interesting.Find a mic i can use for the camera, and equipment in general, if i can't find a mic for the camera i can use a zoom mic, and get a sound guy to come and help, (+1 to the crew)
Where should I film this?
- My local neighbourhood
- My local town centre
- My home (For my own interview)
How should I film this?
answer some questions about myself, then see how other people answer them about me. literally talk to strangers on the street and interview them while they're there.
What questions should i ask / answer?
- Whats my name?
- Who do I want to be?
- Why am I doing this documentary?
- How do you think I got here? tell me my life story.
what kind of crew would I need?
- Camera guy so I can be free to direct. directional mic can be attached to camera
- sound person :3

Documentary idea / development
How can the death of celebrities effect us in similar ways to someone close to us personally, even though we never met them?
The Recent passings of such celebrities like Robin Williams has hit me as to how hard people can take their passing, almost like loosing a family member.

The evolution of E-sports into mainstream sports media.
recently, the finals for the Dota 2 internationals was broadcast on ESPN, a major sports network in the US. even one year ago that would appear stupid to 90% of the population, but now times are changing, and E-sports are starting to gain a reputation like they deserve. the prize pool for the last DoTa 2 league was over 5 million dollars, and next year will be even larger.
Youtube turing into genuine career paths for people, and internet fame in general compared to other types of fame. what makes it better / worse for the person involved.
Bradford, voted most dangerous town in england 2014. does that mean we can say that all the people are dangerous, or are there exceptions?
animation compared to live action and recorded media and what is received better each way.
(there are some small youtube animators i can speak to who i have done voice acting work for in the past, Gregzilla and Mr Chambers...and Zone one time)
Depression, and how it hides away from the public eye
as an issue, there are hardly depression charities at all to help people fight it, and it is a real issue that people face daily, and it's so hard to spot but can be so deadly and vicious.
