An introduction: a small speech given by myself about the human mind, and how quickly we make impressions followed by an explanation of what i'll be doing.
the main bulk of the Documentary will be interviews with strangers in the streets of cambridge, asking them to answer some simple (and some not-so simple) questions about me, from what my name is, to my life story.
Talking to my dad about the art of people watching, why we do it (because we all do, we know it) how easy it is to judge someone you've just met and how in depth you think you could get about someones life.
the end will be me and the crew saying goodbye to all the people we have interviewed and a cut to me talking about some deep quote about how we judge people.
and that should make a full film! with plenty of cuts to other interviewees there shouldn't be too much need for generic random cutaways, and film it more like a personal conversation.

The difference between narrative and story.
the story is the overall event that is happening, for example a lady gets stabbed in the parking lot, the narrative is the way it's told, like a perspective, like the lady's narrative is that 'I was stabbed', the person that stabbed her's narrative is 'I stabbed someone' if there was someone to watch that event, their narrative would be 'I saw someone get stabbed' but the story is the same.
The Three Act Narrative structure and hollywood structure.
The bace 3 act narrative structure in all films is the simple start, middle and an ending, the start should develop a character and the problem they have to face, middle should have the climax of the film and the ending should have a final resolution.
the hollywood narrative structure is different, they have:
Exposition
What the point of the story is, why it's happening.
Development
Telling us who the characters and developing them.
Complication
what the hero/heroine has to overcome
Climax
the final battle! DUNDUNDUNDUNDUN
Resolution
everything ends with a new equilibrium.
linear and non-linear narrative structure
A linear narrative takes place in chronological order, like Tangled, everything happens in a set order, she escapes, meets the prince, has a falling out with him, then they destroy evil together and fall in love, that's the order it happens and it's the way it's told.
Now lets look at pulp fiction, one of my personal favourite films of all time, the narrative here is all over the place, it's starts with events that happen at the end, that in the timeline are actually in the middle and it's all a big mess. this is a non-linear narrative and it used to keep a story interesting by keeping the viewer guessing as to what's happening.
pulp fiction's narrative.
oh boy, pulp fiction is all over the place. here's the order that the narrative should be in...

Impressions, The Pitch / Tasks To Be Done.
Impressions, The Pitch.
film title: Impressions.
I ask people i've never met to describe me.
People are quite judgemental in this day and age, and people are often quick to make an impression as to what kind of a person someone is. im out to see how correct they are, and satisfy my own vanity slightly.
The tasks i'll need to do:
- Do some tests with the questions to make sure i can get an interesting enough answer out of someone if i were to ask them to someone.
- Find a crew willing to shoot this with me.
- Get my own life story in order and find out what to tell to make it interesting.Find a mic i can use for the camera, and equipment in general, if i can't find a mic for the camera i can use a zoom mic, and get a sound guy to come and help, (+1 to the crew)
Where should I film this?
- My local neighbourhood
- My local town centre
- My home (For my own interview)
How should I film this?
answer some questions about myself, then see how other people answer them about me. literally talk to strangers on the street and interview them while they're there.
What questions should i ask / answer?
- Whats my name?
- Who do I want to be?
- Why am I doing this documentary?
- How do you think I got here? tell me my life story.
what kind of crew would I need?
- Camera guy so I can be free to direct. directional mic can be attached to camera
- sound person :3

Documentary idea / development
How can the death of celebrities effect us in similar ways to someone close to us personally, even though we never met them?
The Recent passings of such celebrities like Robin Williams has hit me as to how hard people can take their passing, almost like loosing a family member.

The evolution of E-sports into mainstream sports media.
recently, the finals for the Dota 2 internationals was broadcast on ESPN, a major sports network in the US. even one year ago that would appear stupid to 90% of the population, but now times are changing, and E-sports are starting to gain a reputation like they deserve. the prize pool for the last DoTa 2 league was over 5 million dollars, and next year will be even larger.
Youtube turing into genuine career paths for people, and internet fame in general compared to other types of fame. what makes it better / worse for the person involved.
Bradford, voted most dangerous town in england 2014. does that mean we can say that all the people are dangerous, or are there exceptions?
animation compared to live action and recorded media and what is received better each way.
(there are some small youtube animators i can speak to who i have done voice acting work for in the past, Gregzilla and Mr Chambers...and Zone one time)
Depression, and how it hides away from the public eye
as an issue, there are hardly depression charities at all to help people fight it, and it is a real issue that people face daily, and it's so hard to spot but can be so deadly and vicious.
